NSC & Non Contact Boxing in Schools

NSC in partnership with Empire ABC has a thriving boxing schools program.

We have sports club links with several schools both Secondary and Primary mainly centred on our schools boxing gym at the Patchway School Sports Centre where we have a fully equipped boxing gym with a boxing ring and bags, etc.

We can provide fully qualified boxing coaches that also have the ABAe boxing tutors qualification and can deliver the ABAe awards scheme see  www.boxingawards.co.uk right through to competitive boxing.

This is an award winning program with many school children engaged in a non contact, progressive boxing program for fun and fitness.

We can come to your school with boxing coaches/boxing tutors and run after and before schools clubs, summer clubs, activity days, taster sessions, boxing circuit training and skipping based PE classes.

All our boxing coaches/tutors are fully qualified, have experience of coaching in a schools environment, they are all first aid qualified and CRB ‘d with their own insurance.

For further details please contact Head Coach and Boxing Tutor Garry Cave on 07876 233621 or email  garry.cave@airbus.com.

South Gloucestershire Sports Forum Sports Awards 2008

NSC ABC boxing Club has been established for 74 years.

Through their sport of Olympic amateur boxing they promote fitness, discipline, friendship, fair play, respect and confidence. They provide a constructive alternative to anti social behaviour for our schools and community.

Back in September last year, after, (along with 4 colleagues from Patchway Community College) we gained our ABAe boxing tutor awards, I went on the search for a boxing club we could make a strong, meaningful school/club link with.

There were 3 great clubs I could have worked with, but Garry Cave Head coach of NSC, impressed me with his drive, commitment and absolute passion for what he was trying to achieve. They were already doing lots of outreach work in schools and communities but we quickly realised we could take this to whole new level with the amount of enthusiasm and determination we had as a team.

Here we are a full year on and this club shows no sign of slowing down in its ambition to deliver quality, safe and fun boxing to our schools and community. The establishment of its new Patchway Amateur Boxing Club back in July has been a brilliant thing for everyone to be part of.

As mentioned above, this club has given readily of its time (most coaches holding down full time jobs) to run brilliant taster days for our school and others within South Glos. We are now working on ones for our Primary schools with the view to set up a club training night for them.

The expanding partnership between NSC boxing, Patchway Community College and Patchway sports centre has seen a big increase in participation. Not just for our students but also the community with 2 evening clubs running from our very own Patchway ABC at the Patchway sports centre. It also has strong links with Patchway Youth Centre and is a great mechanism for social inclusion, especially for the many travellers in our community who have embraced the new club.

The club will be running lots of Boxing shows from Patchway Sports centre this year, further strengthening our school/club/community links and breathing new life into the sports centre.

This tremendous initiative has been nominated for a national award and Garry and his team are now expanding their work across the King Edmund school sport partnership.

We too are not resting on our achievements thus far, with plans in place for primary taster days and their own club training night at Patchway ABC again being run by Patchway ABC coachs Jake Whiteside and Lee Cummins. Investment into coaching and training for current coaches new school coaches and our older students is also in the pipeline.

The passion and drive of this Boxing club is immense. I have never worked with such a professional, hardworking, well organised and motivated individual as Garry and his coaches.

Garry Cave, Jake and Lee are  such worthy winners of the School Link award this year for all they have developed over the last year at Patchway and South Gloucestershire schools.

The establishment of a sub club within a school/community is truly unique and speaks volumes of this clubs dedication to their sport both at club, school and community level. This has been the best school club link I have ever had fortune of being part off.
